This Privacy Policy explains how SuperTransSub (“the App”) handles information when you use it. SuperTransSub is designed to run transcription and translation locally on your Mac.

Summary

• No account required. The App does not require you to create an account or sign in.
• Offline-first processing. Transcription and translation are performed locally on your device.
• No analytics by default. The App does not include third-party analytics or ad tracking.
• Network use is optional. Network access may be used only to download Whisper model files you choose to download.

Information We Collect

The App does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. Your media files (video/audio), subtitle files, and generated subtitles are processed locally.

Files You Select

When you select an input file (video/audio or .srt) and an output path, the App reads the input file and writes the output subtitle file to the location you choose. The App does not upload these files to any server.

Models and Downloads

To perform transcription, the App uses Whisper models (for example, ggml-*.bin files). If you do not already have a model configured, the App may prompt you to download one.

• What is downloaded: model files you explicitly choose to download.
• Where they are stored: under your macOS Application Support directory in a whisper-models folder.
• What is shared: your device will connect to the model hosting URL to fetch the file. The App does not attach your media/subtitle content to these requests.

Local Logs

The App shows processing logs inside the UI (for example, progress messages and error descriptions). These logs are intended to help you understand what the App is doing. The App does not transmit these logs to any server.

Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools. If you choose to download models, the download is hosted by a third-party provider (for example, a file hosting service). Their servers may log standard request metadata (such as IP address and user-agent) as part of normal web operations.

Your Choices and Control

• You can choose which files to process and where output files are saved.
• You can choose which model to download and use.
• You can delete downloaded models by removing the files from the whisper-models directory.
• You can delete output subtitles by removing the saved .srt file(s) you created.

Data Security

Because processing is local, your content stays on your device unless you share it. However, no software can guarantee absolute security. We recommend using macOS file permissions and keeping your system up to date.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
