SuperOCR – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the SuperOCR macOS application ("SuperOCR", "we", "our", or "us") handles your information. SuperOCR is a local OCR (optical character recognition) tool built on Apple’s Vision framework. It is designed to recognize text from images and screen captures directly on your Mac.

1. Data we process

SuperOCR processes the following types of data, only on your device:

• Images you open from files using the app’s "Select Image" feature.
• Images you paste from the clipboard using the "Paste Image" feature.
• Screen regions you capture using the "Screenshot" feature.
• Recognized text produced by the OCR engine from those images.

This data is used solely to perform text recognition and to show the recognition results to you inside the app.

2. On-device processing

All OCR processing is performed locally on your Mac using Apple’s Vision framework.

• SuperOCR does not send your images or recognized text to remote servers controlled by the app developer.
• SuperOCR does not integrate third-party analytics SDKs or advertising SDKs.

3. Permissions

To provide its functionality, SuperOCR may request the following macOS permissions:

• Screen Recording: Required for the "Screenshot" feature to capture a selected region of your screen. SuperOCR only uses this permission when you explicitly start a screenshot capture inside the app.
• Files and Folders: When you choose an image file using "Select Image", macOS may ask for permission to access that location. SuperOCR only reads the files you explicitly select.
• Clipboard access: When you click "Paste Image", SuperOCR reads image data from the clipboard to perform OCR. It does not read or store clipboard contents for any other purpose.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in macOS System Settings.

4. Data storage and retention

• Images and recognized text are kept in memory only for as long as they are needed to display results inside the app.
• SuperOCR does not create a persistent database of your images or recognized text.
• Any temporary screenshots created by the system screenshot tool are deleted by the app after they are loaded into memory (when possible).

However, if you manually copy and paste recognized text into other applications or save screenshots or images yourself, those copies are stored and controlled by the respective applications or file locations, not by SuperOCR.

5. No user accounts

SuperOCR does not require you to create an account or sign in. We do not maintain user profiles or identity-related data within the app.

6. Children’s privacy

SuperOCR is a general productivity tool and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Third-party services

SuperOCR relies on Apple’s operating system frameworks, such as:

• Vision framework (for OCR)
• AppKit and SwiftUI (for the user interface)
• System screenshot utilities (for screen capture)

These components are provided by Apple as part of macOS. Their handling of data is covered by Apple’s own privacy policies and macOS terms.

8. Security

Because SuperOCR processes data locally and does not transmit it to remote servers controlled by the developer, the main security boundary is your own Mac. We recommend that you keep your system and applications up to date and protect access to your device with a strong password or biometric authentication.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of SuperOCR after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
